How to get to the Ainsel underground area

The Dragonborn Soldier of Nokstella resides near the Eternal City of the same name in the underground of the Between Lands. You can find her in the Ainsel area, which you can reach either during Ranni's Quest (Guide) or via the Fountain on the Ainsel in eastern Liurnia. It's on the cliffs between the Lesser Earth Tree and the Carian Lecture Hall.

With the lift at the fountain you can reach the bottom of the fountain on the Ainsel and via the following path the place of grace lock gate of the Ainsel. From there, run across the bridge and look to the left. You see the Gateway to the Uhl Palace Ruins, your next destination. The descent succeeds over the scree further ahead.

Follow the river northeast through the cave and take the fork to the right at the corpses. Kill the ants and keep walking until you reach the gate. On the other side is a powerful insect that hurls rocks at you with gravity magic. Run down into the water and stay to the left. After a short passage you will see the yellow light of the place of grace Unterlauf der Ainsel on the rocks on the right.

Continue down the path west into the cave system. There you'll meet some giant ants again, who are dining on a mountain of carcasses. Among the remains lies the Horn Talisman of Immunity, which increases your resistance to poison and rot. Take the path north and you will reach the path that will lead you to a huge thr1. This is the Nokstella Dragonborn Soldier boss arena.

Dragonborn Soldier of Nokstella: Boss strengths and weaknesses

Gear up for Physical Damage and Frost Attacks before heading to the boss arena. A useful helper against the hard blows of the Dragonborn Soldier are the legendary talismans in Elden Ring. The Dragon Greatshield Talisman, for example, increases your resistance to physical damage.

The boss is immune to sleep, madness and death plague. Instead, use slashing attacks for physical damage, poison, scarlet rot, or bleed damage.

Dragonborn Soldier of Nokstella: Phase 1 of the boss fight

Nokstella Dragonborn Soldier: This is how you dodge the blows

The gargantuan Dragonborn Soldier of Nokstella relies on sheer power to begin with. If he rushes at you, he'll smack you from top to bottom with his paw-dodge as soon as he raises his hand. This is followed by lateral blows from right to left and vice versa. The perfect time to dodge is when his paw hits the ground. He dives in the opposite direction of his stroke.

The Dragonborn soldier then sweeps his arm straight across the ground and throws his entire body weight behind it. Dodges to the side again as soon as his hand hits the ground. If he's lying flat, you have a short time for a hit-but be careful : If the water starts to bubble on his arm, dodge again, because in the next moment he'll follow up to wipe backwards.

Punch combos and roar attack

Most often, the Dragonborn Soldier performs these attacks with a preceding left-right combination of the attacks described at the beginning. He becomes dangerous as soon as he raises his head and roars. Immediately run away to the side, because in the next step he will charge you and can hardly be defended against.

Attack him from behind while he's getting up. If he's standing on two legs, get out of the field. He rams his fist into the ground and pulls it out again, throwing debris at you.

Phase 2: The Dragonborn Soldier of Nokstella rises

In the second half of the boss fight, Nokstella's Dragonborn Soldier grows wings and attacks with lightning attacks that deal Frost damage. When it flies into the air, it throws a Frost Bolt into the water, leaving small sparkling patches in its wake. Sprint away immediately.

His strike patterns remain the same as phase one, but now deal additional Frost damage and follow each other faster. With his newly gained wings, the Dragonborn Soldier likes to take flight and stay there for a moment. Run to the side and dodge as soon as he raises his hand and flies towards you. Now you have time again to attack him from behind while he is lying on the ground preparing for the next blow.
