Final Fantasy VII had a multitude of minor characters who all had personality and, in some cases, a deep story, which means that it was easy to invest in different reasons.
For example, during the first disc content, you will end up finding yourself in the coral prison area after events have taken a disturbing turn at the Golden Saucer. Here you end up meeting Done, whom you will discover later, the best barrel friend of Marlene, the little girl who stays with FIFA and Barrel. It is an ark of major history for Barrett hat demonstrates to the player that Barrel is more complex than a simple man with a pistol on the arm with a big character.
Three minor characters who were part of the first chapter of the original game were Jessie, Biggs and Wedge, who all appear at the beginning of the game, and in remake Final Fantasy VII. They are all members of the Avalanche group of Barrel, an organization trained to stop the Make reactors, the energy source of the planet that is used to fuel almost everything around the world, in the city to continue to suck the energy of the planet.
Jessie, the trio's wife, has medium-length brown hair with a bandana, a shielded breast protector, green shorts and is one of three that interacts the most with cloud. She shows signs of attraction to cloud in the original, so expect more than that throughout the remake.
Biggs also wears a short and a bandana, with shorter and bristling brown hair and acts with the avalanche technician, setting up the bombs used by the group. It also appears to be stubborn.
Wedge is the largest of the three, wearing a red bandana covering his hair and easily identifiable with his yellow shirt and his metal shoulder protectors. He is the easiest member of the trio and tends to ask for the approval of others for his actions.
They do not very often appear in the original game, only joining the main cast that during the missions assumed by the group. However, towards the end of the Midgard Arc, all three are injured in the fight at the top of the plate in sector 7, which maintains the support section for slums below. They are killed when the plate drops on slums, effectively destroying Midgard sector 7.
However, with remake Final Fantasy VII stretching the story of Midgard for the entirety of the game, the three characters play a more important role than they did in the original. They are there throughout the opening mission of the demo, Jessie in particular, receiving a lot of screen time. They will meet the same fate, it's hard to say, although Midgard is a much larger place, including a more sprawling world than before, all three will play more important roles than before.
